Bhubaneswar, August 22:
Defending champions KISS and St. Xavier’s High School, Kedaragouri won their respective matches easily in the 26th Inter-School MCL Cup football tournament at the Unit-VI High School Ground here Saturday.
KISS battered Ramakrushna Mission High School 6-0 in a Group-A League match. Sona Kumar Marda scored the first hat- trick of the meet this year. He netted in the 16th, 20th and 43rd minutes respectively. Dipak Barada scored two goals in the 18th and 33rd minutes. Bhagabat Hansda found the back of the net once in the 28th minute. Sona bagged the man of the match award.
In the group-B league match, Xavier’s blanked DAV, Pokhariput 2-0. Priyadarsan Mohapatra and Subham Sahu of the winning team scored once each in the 25th and 32nd minutes respectively. Priyadarshan was adjudged the man of the match.
Police Football
Mayurbhanj Commissionerate Police B, Dhenkanal, Rourkela, Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Jajpur won their respective matches in the State Police Football Championship at Manhor Pur Police Ground in Bolangir, Saturday.
Mayurbhanj blanked Ganjam 2-0, while Dhenkanal thrashed Khurda 6-0. Rourkela pipped Nabarangapur 1-0 and Kandhamal spanked Deogarh 6-0. Jajpur drubbed Angul 5-1 in another match.
LIC Athletic Meet
Hazaribagh will meet Muzaffarpur in the volleyball final of the VIIIth LIC East Central Zonal Volleyball and Athletic Meet at KIIT Ground here Sunday.
In Saturday semifinals, Hazaribagh beat Cuttack 2-0 and Muzaffarpur blanked Bhubaneswar 2-0.
Prakash Mohanty from Bhubaneswar Division stood first in the men’s Javelin throw while G D Salma from Berhampur Division took the top honours in men’s 200 metres race. C V Kumar of Muzaffarpur emerged champion in the men’s Shot put.
ATV Championship
Autosports India in association with Kalinga Motor Sports & FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Club of India) announced Saturday, the launch of Mega ATV Championship 2016 to be organised here next year in March. The aim of the championship will be to promote adventure sports and off roading ATV (all terrain vehicles) culture in India.
