Koraput: Some influential persons have allegedly grabbed a patch of land along National Highway-26 that belonged to a person who was displaced by the Kolab dam project.
The victim Raghunath Takri approached the police as well as the administration seeking justice. After getting to know about his move, the land-grabbers abused him and threatened to kill him, said Takri.
According to reports, Takri has been staying on a patch of one acre and 81 decimals of land at Chhapar under Sadar police limits since 1959, after his family was displaced by the project. He said the erstwhile king, pleased with the service by his predecessors, had allotted the land in their names.
He had planted some fruit trees such as nilgiri, cashew, sandal, plum and mahua on his land a few days back. However, one day he found that some people have constructed tin sheds overnight after felling the trees, Takri claimed.
Takri has now approached the tehsildar and the Collector seeking justice. The influential persons have set their eyes on his patch as the land cost is rising by the day in the town, Takri added.
His family is now in a state of panic after receiving threats from the land-grabbers, Takri told reporters here.
