Chhendipada: Vigilance sleuths Satuday arrested a laboratory demonstrator of science department of Bapuji College at Chhendipada in Angul district on charges of taking graft.
The arrestee has been identified as Manas Sahoo of Sapoisahi.
According to reports, Manas had demanded Rs 2,000 from a student to give him good marks in practical exams. Disturbed over Manas’ demand, the student informed this matter to vigilance officials who hatched a plan to catch the former red-handed.
As per the plan, the student went to Manas’ residence and gave him Rs 2,000. The anti-corruption sleuths who were hiding outside of the house, barged in and caught Manas while he was accepting the cash at around 11 am this morning.
A case has been registered against Manas and an investigation into the matter is on.
