Cuttack, August 31: Francis Lakra scored with a spectacular header to help Sports Hostel win their game by a solitary goal against Sunrise Club in a keenly- contested match of the FAO first division football super league at the Barabati Stadium here, Wednesday.
It was a game where fortunes swung like a pendulum with both sides creating a number of opportunities but failing to put the finishing touches to the moves. After a goalless first half, Lakra got the goal in the 58th minute.
Anwesha gets WFM norm
Young Orissa chess player Anwesha Mishra has got the Women’s FIDE Master (WFM) norm. World chess body, FIDE awarded her with the norm following her gold medal triumph in U-14 Youth Chess Championships in Mongolia, April this year. She also fulfilled the necessary requirements to get the norm.
With 1,974 Elo rating points, Anwesha is currently ranked 50th in in India while she is in the third and eighth positions in her age category in India and Asia respectively. Anwesha has been chosen to lead India in the World Youth Chess Championships in Russia in September, following her gold and silver medal triumphs in Asia Youth Chess Championships and U-13 National Chess Championships respectively.
