Bhubaneswar: Law students staged a protest Monday in front of the main gate of Utkal University here. A large number of students from University Law College, Capital Law College, MS Law College and The Law College joined the protest against the decision to conduct four semesters- 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th exams in six months. The students pointed out that the decision violates the Bar Council’s rules.

Hundreds of law students who joined the protests said it was ‘absolutely impossible’ to attend such a rigorous schedule. “If the revised notice is not issued, we will draw the attention of the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice of India,” a law student said.

The Controller of the exams had earlier said that a panel will meet August 25 to decide on whether the schedule will be changed. He had stated ‘a decision will be taken keeping in mind the interest of the students’. However, the agitating students made it clear that they will not budge down from their demand.
