Law students worried as results of 2 semesters still pending

Bhubaneswar: Final year students of University Law College are worried as the results of two semesters have not been published and the schedule of 10th semester exams have not been announced.

Jyotisman Kar, a student of 5th year BA LLb (Hons.) at the University Law College said, “We had eighth semester exams in December 2017 and ninth semester exams in April 2018. But till now the results have not been published. We are worried as many students have plans to take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Some want to go for further studies. The delay in publishing the results has put us in trouble. When we asked the college authorities regarding the delay in publishing the results Principal Pranab Kumar Rana said the university is responsible for that and asked us to go on strike.”

The 120 students of the University and Madhusudha Law College in Cuttack had taken the eighth and ninth semester exams.

Around 70 students of the University Law College and Madhusdhan Law College gathered at the Utkal University VC’s office demanding publication of the results.

In the absence of the VC they talked to PG Council Chairman Brahmananda Satapathy. He told them to come again Monday and asked them to meet the Controller of Examinations Sarat Kumar Majhi who said the delay was due to examiners going for election duty.

The students told him that the exam was held in April 2018 and there was ample time for publishing the results. The Controller then told the students the results will be declared by next week.

Sabyasachi Patnaik, another fifth year student, said there were many other issues which needed to be addressed. “The 10th semester exam schedule is not out and this is affecting exam preparations. Also, there is no Librarian in the college,” he said.

When Orissa Post contacted Principal Pranab Kumar Rana he said the University is responsible for publishing the exam results.
