Lawkeeper or pillow lifter? Eyebrows raised over train theft row

Passengers travelling in AC coaches receive sheets, blankets and pillows from Indian Railways for use during the journey. These items are meant to be used only on the train and must be left behind after reaching the destination. Despite this rule, many passengers allegedly take these items with them and are sometimes caught. But what happens when a policeman himself is accused of taking railway bedding? A video that recently went viral on social media appears to show exactly that, and his reaction after being confronted has surprised many viewers.

In the video circulating online, a police officer is seen surrounded by fellow passengers inside a train compartment, with some accusing him of taking a railway pillow and bedding. As he is confronted, the officer folds his hands and apologises. Later, when his bag is checked, pillows are reportedly found inside.

When one of the pillows is taken out, and the officer’s nameplate is examined, his name is seen as Bhanu Pratap Singh. He says he was on duty in Prayagraj and was heading there. Some people in the video ask whether he had consumed alcohol, to which the policeman replies, “I haven’t consumed a drop.” The clip has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions on social media.
