Bhubanseswar: As part of the year-long platinum jubilee celebrations, a lecture was organized by Utkal University Friday on ‘Japan-India Relations: History and Perspective’. The lecture was delivered by Padma Shri Prof Tomio Mizokami.
Prof Mizokami made a presentation wherein he traced he traced the Indo-Japanese relations to the sixth century AD after the arrival of Buddhism in Japan. He narrated how in the ancient period Japanese people believed that only Japan, China and India comprised the world. Concluding that Indo-Japanese relationship is currently witnessing the best period as now the Japanese consider India as a dependable friend and India considers Japan as the “most trustworthy nation” over Russia and America.
On this occasion, Utkal University V-C Soumendra Pattnaik emphasised on how the initiatives such as opening of an International Centre at Utkal University will open new opportunities in international relations, especially for students and faculties engaged in higher studies and research.
