Kolabira: In a tragic incident, two youths were killed after being struck by lightning Tuesday in Kalibahal village under this police limits in Jharsuguda district. The deceased were identified as Bir Kisan and Dukhabandhu Majhi, both residents of Kalibahal. Bir had gone to his farmland to spray pesticides, while Dukhabandhu, who worked as a tractor helper, had gone to plough a field.
Around 3pm, as rain and thunder began, both sought shelter under a mahua tree in the village. A sudden lightning strike hit them, knocking them unconscious. Locals rushed them to the nearby community health centre, where doctors declared both dead. Police have registered an unnatural death case and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
