Berhampur, Dec 8: Police Tuesday cracked the murder case of former chairman A. Balakrushna of Buguda NAC in Ganjam district and arrested two youths and seized a gun and bullets. The accused were identified as liquor trader Bhalu Sahu of Aska and his accomplice Sunil Shetty while another was said to be on the run.
Berhampur DIG Amitabh Thakur and Ganjam SP Narsingh Bholo announced this at a press conference held Tuesday.
Police said Bhalu Sahu manufactured liquor pouches on the behalf of Balakrushna. When Balakrushna objected to his name being used, Bhalu planned to eliminate him and took the help of Bikram Mallick, an inmate of Jharpada jail, Susil Behera and Sunil Nayak of Aska jail to murder Balakrushna. Later, Bhalu along with Sunil Shetty and another accomplice pumped seven bullets into Balakrushna from close range November 11 killing him on the spot.
Bhalu later confessed to the murder during interrogation, police said.
