Puri: Emphasising cleanliness at the beach here, the Puri district administration and the Municipality have decided to penalise the litter louts.
The administration in association with some social outfits and volunteers has launched ‘Mo Beach’ initiative to keep the beach free from garbage.
Moreover, the administration has decided to create awareness among the tourists not to dump garbage including plastic water bottles and polythene bags on the beach.
The administration has installed loudspeakers on some street light poles on the beach to create awareness among the tourists on the issue.
“We will create awareness among the tourists not to dump garbage on the beach and park vehicles at the no-parking zones. A decision has been taken to impose penalties on the violators. We will soon implement the decision,” said city municipal executive officer Bijay Kumar Dash.
