Puri: Two cable television workers were electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire while repairing cables on the premises of Baliapanda police station Sunday evening, hospital sources said.
The deceased were identified as Bapi Pradhan and Subrata Sahu, both residents of Jalisahi under Baliapanda police station limits. They worked for a private cable television company.
The incident triggered tension in the area, with local residents and family members of the deceased staging a protest.
Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh and the city Deputy Superintendent of Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident and tried to pacify the grieving families.
According to reports, CCTV footage purportedly shows the two workers coming in contact with a live wire while repairing the cable network in front of the police station.
