Kendrapara: In an aggressive behavior, the tehsildar of Rajkanika block in this district was locked down by a group of locals in his office as he turned up for work on a holiday, this Saturday. The protesters suspected that he was indulging in some irregularities when the other staff was away.
As per the list of government holidays, this was a holiday but the tehsildar Pradyush Kumar Mohanty stepped into the office in the morning and engaged himself in some work. Suspecting that he was doing some misappropriation of funds or manipulation of records, the group of locals reached the tehsil office and locked it from outside.
Police got to know of this and rushed to the spot. Cops pacified the crowd and rescued the tehsildar. “Everyone is unhappy with the activities of the tehsildar. Despite several allegations of fund manipulations, no investigation has been undertaken against him till now,” an agitator said.
Refuting the allegations, the tehsildar said, “I have been asked from above to do some special work. Hence I am working on holidays too. What can I do if some people lock me from outside?”
