Keonjhar: Two bears strayed into Gobardhan area in Padmapur town in Keonjhar district Thursday night creating panic among the local residents. According to reports, locals spotted the bears, one male, and another female, while they were wandering in search of food. However, one of them was seen entering a nursery at Banajodi Chhak Friday morning. The bear possibly lost its way and made its way through the Gobardhan cashew forest and Jogimath field.
Panic gripped the villagers leading to a huge gathering after the bear entered the nursery. Informed, Palaspanga forester Krushna Chandra Das, Padmapur Mega Nursery forester Jyotsnarani Behera and other personnel from Keonjhar forest department arrived at the spot. While they spread awareness among the panic-stricken villagers and cautioned them to ensure their safety, efforts to rescue the bear from the nursery were still underway when reports last came in.
