Malkangiri: Miscreants Monday night decamped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees from the house of Parasmal Surana, a trader of Chidanandasahi here by breaking the main door lock of the house.
The looted items included gold ornaments and other expensive things, police said.
According to sources, four days back the Suranas had left for Raipur to attend a marriage ceremony. Taking advantage of their absence, the looters managed to break in and looted the valuables from the house.
The neighbours informed the trader as well as the police after watching the broken lock Tuesday morning. Police reached the spot and found everything lying scattered. The cost of looted items would be known after the arrival of the house owner, police said.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and formed a team to nab the robbers.
Locals alleged the crime rate in the town has increased alarmingly after some youths of other states settled down here in the name of doing business.
