Baliguda: In a bizarre incident, a woman, who reportedly was estranged from her husband over family disputes, set three bikes ablaze in front of his house at Sunapanga under Baliguda police limits in Kandhamal district late Saturday night.
According to sources, the woman hailing from K.Nuagaon married Chiku, son of Dillip Kumar Nayak, of Sunapanga, after a period of courtship.
However, altercations often erupted between the couple over petty family issues. Chiku later abandoned his wife after which the woman went to stay at her parental home.
In an act of revenge, the woman had earlier attacked Chiku with a knife while he was sleeping at night.
At around 2 am Sunday, a family member saw three motorcycles parked on the premises of the house were in flames. The woman was noticed near the torched bikes but she fled after being chased by locals.
A complaint was lodged at Baliguda police station in this regard.
