Nabarangpur: A young couple was found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances in a forest near Pipalpadar under Jharigaon block of this district, Monday.
Sources said, the couple was missing since Sunday morning. The recovery of their bodies has raised speculations that the couple might have been killed by miscreants and hanged to project it as a case of suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Sanadhar Jani, 20, and Jumari Jani, 22, both residents of Temera panchayat in Jharigaon block.
The matter came to the fore after residents spotted the bodies hanging from a tree inside the forest and informed other villagers who then alerted the local police Monday.
Dabugaon police reached the spot and seized the bodies. According to villagers, the couple might have committed suicide but the motive behind their action is yet to be ascertained.
The bodies have been sent to Dabugaon hospital for postmortem and the report will reveal the exact cause of the death, the police said.
