Bhubaneswar, June 17: Several natives of Maharashtra who had invested in Oscar Group of Companies Friday lodged complaints with Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch alleging that the company had duped them.

“The firm’s Maharashtra head Prashant Kumar Sethy had promised us higher returns on our deposited amounts. The firm had its branch offices in Birwadi, Mahad, Goregaon, Alibag, and Pune. However, the company closed down all its branches in 2014,” Dinesh D Pawar, an investor from Maharashtra alleged.
“Three celebrities from Oriya film industry had also attended some of the state shows in Maharashtra to promote the firm,” he said.
The investors also threatened that they will commit suicide if their money is not refunded to them.
Meanwhile, EOW officials said they would discuss the matter with these investors and take action accordingly.
The officials continued to grill Oscar Group’s arrested director Pravash Chandra Rout at the office here to know about the financial transaction of the tainted firm.
Earlier, EOW officials left for Gujarat Thursday to probe the multi-crore scam of the Oscar Group.
The team will reportedly visit Surat and investigate Oscar Group’s business operations in the western state.
