Maharashtra, Bihar, Goa script huge victories

Cuttack, May 9:  Maharashtra, Bihar and Goa registered huge victories against their respective opponents in different matches of the Sub-Junior Girls’ national football championship at the Barabati Stadium here, Saturday.

 

Bhagyashree (seventh, 12th, 21st, 73rd) scored four goals including a hat-trick and Triga Colaco (46th, 62nd, 92nd) also got a hat-trick to help Maharashtra earn an emphatic 10-1 victory against Uttarakhand. The other goals were scored by A Gadekari (ninth and 14th) and Retika Shahani. Manisha Palariya got the consolation goal for Uttarakhand.

Riding on a double hat-trick by Soni Kumari, Bihar thrashed Gujarat 14-0. In the same game, Jyoti Kumari scored three goals, Priyanka Kumari (17th, 30th) had a brace, while Nisha Kumari (46th), Sanjana Kumari (78th) and Mamata Kumari (90th) added to the tally.

 

Goa drubbed Chhattisgarh 11-0 as N Mukundan scored six goals including a double hat-trick. The other goals were scored by H Susanti (2), Arpita, Beverley Casdoso and Joigima Fernadez (one each)

 

Referee’s debut

Orissa’s young referee Divyana Shukla made her national debut by officiating in the Bihar-Gujarat match of the Sub-Junior Girls’ National football Championship at the Barabati Stadium here, Saturday. Divyana is a FAO category-3 referee.

 

Orissa eves lose

Hockey Orissa lost to Hockey Haryana 1-3 in the semifinals of the Vth Women’s Junior National Hockey Championships at Rajnandgao, Chhattisgarh, Saturday. The goals for Haryana were scored by Neha (fourth), Udita (46th) and Jyoti (59th). Orissa skipper Nil Projita Majhi scored through a fantastic field effort.

 

In another match, Hockey Jharkhand thumped Hockey Punjab 5-2 to set up a final date with Hockey Haryana.

 

Coaching Course

Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will conduct the third AIFF grassroots football coaching course here May 15-17. Interested candidates may contact FAO office by May 14 to register their names.
