Malkangiri: A primary school teacher was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a minor schoolgirl in Malkangiri district, police Tuesday said.
The accused has been identified as Sara Padiami, a resident of Kichipali village here. According to police, Padiami works as a teacher in Nuaguda village school under Chalanguda panchayat in the district.
“The accused used to sexually assault the minor on pretext of teaching her after school hours. He also used to threaten the girl of dire consequences if she revealed anything,” Malkangiri town police said.
That said, the parents of the victim came to know about the incident after she got pregnant.
Later, they lodged a report against the teacher at Malkangiri police station following which an investigation was carried out and the accused teacher was arrested, IIC Ramprasad Nayak said.
