Man abducted, beaten to death in Ganjam district

Hinjilicut: In a shocking incident, a person was kidnapped from his house and later beaten to death on the road by a man and his son. The two accused then dumped the body of the deceased in a canal so that it is swept away. This gruesome crime was committed in Godarapalli under Hinjilicut police limits in Ganjam district Tuesday.

The deceased has been was identified as P Dharmarao (60). Police during preliminary investigation came to know that the murder was committed due to past enmity.

It was alleged that the two accused of the same village forcibly took Dharmarao from his house in an auto-rickshaw to Rusikulya Embankment-9 at Mohanaplli. The two then mercilessly thrashed Dharmarao till he breathed his last.

On being informed, Hinjilicut IIC Basudev Bhoi and other police officials rushed to the spot. With help of firemen, police retrieved the body of the deceased from the canal.

Later, Aska SDPO Umashankar Singh, Patapur IIC Sabyaschi Malla and Sheragada IIC Mamata Samantray along with a forensic team started investigation into the murder. The body was sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

The two accused are absconding. Police have mounted a search operation for the accused.

However, no complaint had been filed at the police station in this regard till the last report came in.
