Bhawanipatna: A man had to pay with his life for meddling in a husband-wife quarrel at Mandara Bagicha Pada area in Kalahandi district’s Bhawanipatna town Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Rabindra Patra from Mandara Bagicha Pada area.
According to a source, over some reasons, Raju Rana picked up a quarrel with his wife. Later, he started thrashing her. Hearing her crying out for help, Rabindra, who was their neighbour, came to her rescue. He tried to dissuade Raju from beating his wife.
This infuriated Raju, and he vented his anger on Rabindra. He beat Rabindra up severely. However, some people rescued Rabindra and rushed him to Kalahandi district headquarters hospital in Bhawanipatna.
But it was too late. The doctors there declared him brought dead. On being informed, police reached the DHH and recovered the body for postmortem.
Meanwhile, Raju surrendered himself before the police.
Registering a case, the police have initiated a probe.
