Digapahandi: A man killed his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon and committed suicide at Roadsahi of Bagada village under Digapahandi block in Ganjam district Monday.
The deceased were identified as Nayani and her husband Bankia Sethi.
According to reports, Bankia being enraged over a family feud first murdered Nayani following which he lost his mental stability and committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house.
A verbal duel ensued between the couple at 5 am following which Bankia lost his cool and thrashed his wife. Then he picked up a sharp weapon and slit Nayani’s throat. Later Bankia committed suicide.
Nayani who was bleeding profusely had been rushed to Digapahandi community health centre. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Police reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
