Barbil: A speeding truck rammed into a scooter and dragged it along NH-520 at Topadihi under Keonjhar district’s Rugudi police station limits Monday evening, killing a man and his 2-year-old daughter and leaving his wife critically injured.
The deceased were identified as Dilip Sinku and his daughter Yasmin of Loidapada in Rugudi police station area.
The injured, Tulasi Sinku, is undergoing treatment. Police said the incident occurred around 7pm when Dilip was riding his scooter from Guali toward Loidapada with Tulasi and Yasmin.

Near Topadihi Square, a truck struck the scooter from behind and dragged it, throwing all three onto the road. Dilip and Yasmin died on the spot. The truck driver fled with the vehicle after the accident.
Rugudi police arrived at the spot, rescued Tulasi in critical condition, and admitted her to Barbil Community Health Centre. A manhunt is on to trace the driver and an investigation is under way.
