Bhubaneswar: A court Wednesday sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for killing his wife over dowry, an advocate said.
Third Additional District and Sessions Judge Himansu Sekhar Mallick pronounced the verdict after examining the depositions of 11 witnesses and 11 documents.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Priyabrata Mishra.
If the convict fails to pay the fine, he will remain in custody for another six months, the government counsel said.
According to the prosecution, Mishra killed his wife Kadambini in December 2021 under Lingaraj police limits over dowry.
