Angul: In a shocking incident, a man hacked his wife to death with an axe, suspecting her of having an extramarital affair with a fellow villager at Barakotia village under Khamar police limits in this district, Saturday morning.
While the murder happened late Friday night following a brawl between the couple, the matter came to the fore after family members spotted the woman’s body in a pool of blood Saturday morning.
The deceased woman has been identified as Bhagabati Behera, wife of the accused Shreebal Behera alias Bala.
According to the reports, Bhagabati and her husband Bala had gone to visit their married daughter and son-in-law’s house in Deogarh district.
On suspecting his wife’s extramarital affair, Bala allegedly hacked her to death following which he was kept captive by the villagers.
On intimation, cops reached the spot and handed him over to police. Further probe into the matter is currently underway.
