Buguda: Police Monday arrested a man on the charge of hurling acid on a married woman at Manitara village under Buguda police limits in Ganjam district. The accused was identified as Abhi Bisoyi of the same village.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim, police registered a case and produced Abhi in a court. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected.
According to the case diary, the incident occurred June 12. In the absence of the victim’s husband, Abhi knocked the door late in the night and barged into the woman’s house. When the victim opened the door she found Abhi standing with an acid bottle.
The victim was lucky as she escaped with minor injuries. She closed the door in the nick of time when Abhi hurled acid on her. She later informed the incident to her husband who lodged a written complaint in this connection with Buguda police.
