Bhubaneswar: The twin-city Commissionerate Police Sunday claimed to have arrested a man from Gujarat on charges of giving life-threatening warning to actor-turned politician Anubhav Mohanty in April.
Kalia Barik, a mason from Ganjam’s Khallikote, has been taken into custody on charges of threatening and demanding Rs 10 lakh from Mohanty over WhatsApp April 30. “The accused warned Mohanty to eliminate him in case he (Mohanty) fails to turn up,” a senior Purighat police official said.
Mohanty, who is BJD’s Lok Sabha candidate from Kendrapara in the 2019 general elections, had approached the Purighat police which lodged a complaint and made the arrest.
