Phulnakhra: A man was killed while the pillion rider sustained injuries in head-on collision between a two-wheeler and a truck on Cuttack-Bhubaneswar National Highway-5 Friday.
The mishap took place at around 5 AM in the morning while the victim duo on a motorbike was heading to Cuttack from Bhubaneswar.
The two wee mowed by an over-speeding truck near Phulnakhra area after the driver lost balance on the wheels. While the bike rider died on the spot, the pillion rider was rescued and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where his condition remained critical.
Police have detained the accused truck driver with his vehicle. The body was seized and sent for autopsy while a further probe was on.
