Angul: In a gruesome incident, a man beat his wife to death over alleged infidelity Thursday night. The incident occurred at Soubhagyanagar Harijan Sahi near here. The deceased was identified as Kamini Gochayat while the accused was identified as Ganga Gochayat.
According to sources, Ganga and Kamini had three sons. The youngest son lived with the couple while the other two resided outside. Ganga turned furious after he spotted Kamini sitting and talking to a youth of the same village Thursday evening.
Later, Ganga suspected Kamini of infidelity leading to a fight between the couple late night. Kamini tried in vain to convince Ganga. In a fit of rage, Ganga tied the mouth of Kamini with a cloth. Later, he beat her up mercilessly to death.
Due to excess bleeding, Kamini died on the spot. Later, Ganga’s sons spotted Kamini’s body and the lathi. They nabbed Ganga and alerted police of the incident.
Angul IIC Subash Sahu reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Police registered a case based on a complaint by Kamini’s sons and seized the blood-stained lathi. Ganga was later produced in court.
