Kalimela, July 8: In a weird incident, a tipsy man beat his wife to death over the crying of their three-month-old baby in Venketpalam village under the local police limits in Malkangiri district. The deceased was identified as Nande Madkami.
Though the incident occurred July 1, nobody got wind of it as the accused Bhima Madkami buried the body to destroy the evidence. The matter was investigated after the villagers lodged a missing report with the police Wednesday. Accused Bhima admitted to have committed the crime, the police said.
According to police reports, Bhima had married Nande of Kamweda area under Korukonda block a year back. July 1, the heavily drunk couple went to sleep in a hut on their farmland along with their new-born baby. Bhima asked his wife to return home as the baby started crying during the mid-night. However, an inebriated Nande refused to oblige him. Getting angry over the matter, the accused beat his wife to death and buried the body to hush up the matter.
Police have registered a case and are investigating further. The decomposed body of the woman was recovered and a case has been registered, IIC Bamadev Nanda Said.
