Man meets watery grave while taking selfie at Duduma waterfall in Koraput

Jeypore: After a frantic search, a team comprising of ODRAF personnel and fire brigade Saturday afternoon fished out the body of a man who had gone missing at Duduma waterfall near Semiliguda area in Koraput district.

The deceased was identified as Satya Parija from Kaliagaon area near Jeypore town in the district. Satya had gone to the waterfall along with four of his friends to celebrate New Year. He, unfortunately, fell into the waterfall while taking a selfie and went missing Friday.

Satya’s friends started a search for him; however, he could not be traced. On being informed, the ODRAF and fire personnel joined them in searching for missing Satya.

“We had been trying hard to retrieve the body since Friday. A joint team of fire services department and ODRAF successfully recovered his body Saturday afternoon. It is a drowning case, so his family will get compensation of Rs 4 lakh as per government norms,” Machhkund tehsildar Manas Ranjan Patnaik said.
