Bheden: A 60-year-old man was killed allegedly by his younger brother with an iron pipe and an axe near a country liquor shop at Luisira Khaliapali under the Rusuda police outpost in Bheden police limits of Baragada district late Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Sushil Panda and the accused younger brother, as Ashwini Panda.
Ashwini was arrested in connection with the murder and produced in court Saturday.
His bail plea was rejected, and he was remanded to the Baraga da district jail.
Police registered a murder case (243/26) on the complaint filed by the victim’s wife, Soudamini Panda.
According to police, the two brothers had been involved in a family dispute for a long time.
At about 9:30 pm Friday, they again got into an argument at a liquor shop in Luisira Khaliapali.
Ashwini allegedly lost his temper and attacked Sushil with an iron pipe and an axe, killing him on the spot.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to the Baraga da District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.
The iron pipe and axe allegedly used in the crime were also seized.
Rusuda OIC Golak Bihari Sethi, under the supervision of Bheden police station IIC Arup Ranjan Barei, launched an investigation to find out if any other person was involved in the murder.
