Buguda: In a shocking incident, a five-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a 45-year-old man during the celebration of New Year at Buguda area in Ganjam district. The matter came to the fore after a complaint was lodged in this connection Tuesday.
According to sources, residents of Buguda area had gathered to celebrate New. The villagers gathered for a feast in the village street. Taking advantage, the accused lured the girl onto his house roof and outraged her modesty.
He then convinced her not to reveal the incident to anyone. The girl returned home and narrated her ordeal to her parents who lodged a complaint with the police. A case was registered and a probe was launched while the accused was on the run.
