Rourkela: Interacting with the media here, BJP state president Manmohan Samal brought serious allegations against the state government alleging sub-standard work in various projects in Sundargarh district. “This is a ministry where the elected representatives have no stature. A few officers control everything while the government is busy using its own party symbol in government advertisements to further its own interest. The government is daring to ignore constitutional provisions like gram sabha or palli sabha,” Samal said taking a dig at the state government.
Bringing another serious allegation, the state president termed the ruling regime as one of the most corrupt governments. “Every year corruption to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore is taking place. Project costs are priced at triple the original cost so that the party coffer will increase,” Samal alleged. “The government declared a drinking water project at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore, but the government is doing nothing except beating drums about it,” he said. Speaking on the Central government funds to the state, he said, “The Centre under BJP has given the highest funding to the state.
In the last nine years, it stands at Rs 18,83,000 crore.” On issues of Rourkela, he alleged that the government built a large hockey stadium, but there was widespread corruption. “Everything has been built through DMF and an investigation will definitely reveal the level of corruption in every case,” he said. On the Talcher and Bimlagarh rail link issue, Samal said, “The Central government is allocating funds every year but one fails to understand why there is such inordinate delay in land acquisition.” Regarding the Rourkela Airport instrument landing system issue, he said, “The state government should first transfer the land to AAI, and then only the later will be in a position to install that.” He stated that the state government had written to the Centre for nine medical colleges for which the Central government has provided funds.
Recently a big controversy erupted when a private party, Kuanrmunda dairy farm, was given the land the state government had earmarked for setting up a medical college and hospital. Asked why his party kept quiet on this issue, he said, “I am not aware of this but definitely I am going to ask the local unit and do the needful.” Finally, Samal said that BJP will stage massive demonstrations from November 14 to 18. “We are going to protest at all levels beginning from panchayat, block, civic bodies, and district headquarters highlighting the wrongdoings of this government,” he said.
