Mansinghpatna girl out of danger, 4 suspects including woman under scanner: Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh

Cuttack: Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh Friday informed that the health condition of the Plus II second year student who was set ablaze by miscreants in Mansinghpatna is stable.

DCP Singh also added that four suspects, including a woman, are being interrogated by the police.

Miscreants had tied the limbs of the girl and sedated her with an injection before setting her on fire.

“Lalbagh police station received a report that a girl of Mansinghpatna was alone in the house. Some unknown persons trespassed into the house and assaulted her as well as the house was found on fire. Police immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the girl and shifted to hospital. The victim girl is absolutely safe. No injuries. As per prima facie, certain names of the persons we have collected and investigation is being done accordingly,” the DCP Singh said.

It is being suspected that some persons from her extended family are involved in the incident.

“When the girl will be able to speak up properly, her detailed statement will be recorded. We are now investigating into the case basing on her first statement. I’m hopeful that the action will be taken soon. We have gathered information that four persons had been to the house. Out of the four suspects, three were males and one female. Let it be ascertained by the ongoing investigation. It would be premature to comment on it,” the district police chief stated.
