Bhawanipatna: Police seized Maoist posters and banners from Jurakhaman bungalow under M Rampur block in Kalahandi district as a forensic team defused explosives planted by Maoists on National Highway-59 Saturday.

The seizure of posters and planting of the explosives on the highway just a few meters from the CRPF camp in Urladani has sparked shockwaves in the area.

The ultras in a bid to assert their presence had planted explosives on the highway and had stuck up banners and posters near the Jurakhaman bungalow. People heaved a sigh of relief after the forensic team defused the bomb.

This was stated here by M Rampur IIC Renuka Suna to the media Saturday. In these posters, the ultras had called the residents to boycott the upcoming polls and not to vote for dishonest candidates.

This apart, they also called for a stop in atrocities on the tribals by the forest officials claiming that the killing of a woman Maoist Ajita in Kandhamal will not go in vain. The ultras vowed to retaliate against the security forces in the posters which were addressed by the KKBN divisional committee of the Maoists.
