Bhubaneswar: The Mainpur division of Maoists has urged the public to extended support to Monday’s 24-hour bandh in Odisha and neighbouring Chhattisgarh against the government’s alleged “lethargy” in protecting the interests of the poor.
The ultras alleged that both the Centre and the state governments did not want development of the SC-ST segments and the other poor; instead, they were clearing habitations and relocating people in the name of development. They also released an audio tape against the on-going Green Hunt combing operation.
The red rebels put up posters at the under-construction chariot of Lord Jagannath in Raighar town of Nabarangpur district, while posters were also found in Baliguda area of Kandhmal district and various places in Nuapada district, highlighting this issue.
They also effected a road blockade on the Baliguda-Daringbadi road near Pottangi by cutting down trees, following which vehicular movement came to a standstill.
