But she also said that at present she is not thinking about it and her focus is on qualifying for the Rio Games by performing in the upcoming World Championships in Kazakhstan next month.
“I am training very hard and preparing for the upcoming World Championships in Astana. I hope I will do my best in this event to qualify. My dream is to qualify and get an Olympic gold medal,” Mary Kom told reporters here on the sidelines of a promotional event here.
“Preparations are going on very well and I am trying to improve on my weaknesses, my speed and my technique,” the 33-year-old added. Incidentally, the Astana meet will be Mary’s last chance to book a Rio berth and she can only guarantee it by reaching the final.
Mary also stated that if she makes the Rio Cut, she will try to go for gold this time. “I know competition has become tough… and I am not getting any young,” she pointed out with a smile. “But gold is the motivation for me to keep going. That drives me on.”
