Matric, university certificates now at a click

Bhubaneswar: Now, you don’t need to visit institutions and various government offices to get copies of documents pertaining to matriculation and university examinations.

One can get copies of the certificates and mark sheets of Board of Secondary Education (BSE)-Odisha and state government-run universities by just logging into www.lokseba-odisha.in.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi Saturday launched eight online services pertaining to universities and BSE at a function here.

General Administration secretary Ashok Kumar Meena said six public services of School and Mass Education (S&ME) department and two public services of Higher Education department have been made online through the common application portal.

The services of S&ME department are issuance of duplicate copy of the high school mark sheet and certificate, verification of certificates and mark sheet, migration certificate from BSE and provisional pass certificate/mark sheet.

Similarly, the services of higher education department included are issue of copy of provisional university certificate, mark sheet and migration certificate.

S&ME secretary PK Mohapatra said that students need not run to the board office or university to apply for these certificates. They can apply for these online from their homes or from common service centers.

“The applicants just have to create a user id and password on the portal and apply for the required service. There would also be the facility to pay the fees online. After submitting the application the applicant will get an auto generated acknowledgement mentioning all details of his application,” Mohapatra said.

After final approval by the sanctioning authority, the applicant would get an auto generated SMS in his mobile telephone to download the certificate at his end, he said.

The secretary also said that steps were being taken to digitise all old certificates for digital locker system.

Speaking to Orissa POST, BSE president Jahan Ara Begum said, “The process of issuance of original certificates and mark sheets will continue as like now. However, issuance of duplicate/ copy of the documents of verification of the certificates and mark sheets and migration will be available online.”

Many a time students lose their documents due to various reasons. This new system will help them a lot, she said.

PROCEDURE

“We are getting a huge number of applications for verification of documents from various agencies for recruitment of our students. It takes a long time to collect information about the student and then post it. Now, we can easily send them the verification certificate,” the president said.

However, she said, the manual process will also continue for some days as people are still unaware about the new system. The mark sheets and certificates of all students passed out from BSE since 1956 are also under process. After digitalization of all the documents, the manual process will be scrapped, she added.

Launching the services, the Chief Secretary directed Centre for Modernising Government Initiatives (CMGI) to make the online services completely free of human interface in the coming months. He further directed to deliver the online services within the specified time period as per Odisha Right to Public Services Act, 2012 enacted by state government for timely and hassle-free delivery of services to the citizens.

According to official sources, as of now 341 services of 25 departments have been notified under ORTPS Act while 88 such services have been made online till date.  Apart from that, Common Application Portal Link has also been provided for 28 other services.
