Burla: The authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), Burla have asked a medicine store on its campus to vacate the premises by August 14 for alleged irregularities in medicine supply and delay in submission of bills.
As per the contract signed between Choudhury Medicine Store and the hospital, the former should supply medicines to poor beneficiaries under different government schemes free of cost and submit the bills of the same regularly to the hospital for reimbursement.
“The shop owner has to submit bills regularly. Instead of that the owner has given us a bill after three months. It is difficult for us to make the payment,” said Ashwin Pujahari, VIMSAR director.
He said the deliberate delay in submitting bills is a tactic to manipulate bills.
However, the hospital drug store, as an alternative arrangement, will now provide medicines at cheaper rates to patients.
The authorities have further asked the drug house to contact the Odisha Health Department to claim any pending dues.
Refuting the allegations, Manoj Choudhury, owner of the store, said, “We are ready to vacate the hospital premises provided the outstanding bill of Rs 8 crore is cleared by VIMSAR.”
