Mega farmers’ convention Jan 27

1 lakh farmers to attend programme in Ganjam; CM to distribute assistance to 20,000 farmers

Chhatrapur: A district-level farmers’ convention will be held near Rangeilunda airstrip in Ganjam district January 27 where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will distribute financial assistance under various government schemes to over 20,000 farmers, a report said Sunday.

As many as 1 lakh farmers from 22 blocks and urban areas in the district are expected to attend the programme.

Apart from inaugurating the farmers’ convention, the CM will unveil various projects and lay the foundations stones for others.

 

Over 1200 vehicles have been arranged for the sake of convenience for farmers while an additional 360 vehicles will come from outside of the district. All farmers attending the convention will be served with lunch after the meeting.

 

This was stated here by Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange at a presser after emerging from a preparatory meeting Sunday. The Collector stressed on more and more participation of farmers. The Collector has sought a list of farmers from the BDOs and senior officers of various blocks.

 

The Collector also talked with farmers in various block through video conferencing in the evening and had a discussion on their problems.

The farmers attending the convention will be sensitised on KALIA (Krushak Assistance Livelihood for Income Augmentation) scheme, Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY) and a variety of issues concerning them.

 

The convention was initially slated to be held at Chhatrapur but the venue was shifted due to space crunch, the Collector said.

 

The Chief Minister after his arrival will be taken in a bike rally and cultural programmes depicting various government schemes will be held by troupes en-route to the meeting venue.

 

Subhash Chandra Behera, president, Zilla Parishad, Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, MLA-cum-chairman, district planning board, Gopalpur MLA Pradip Kumar Panigrahi, Chhatrapur MLA Priyanshu Pradhan, Aska MLA Debaraj Mohanty, Sorada MLA Purna Chandra Swain, Khallikote MLA Purna Chandra Sethy, Polsara MLA Srikant Sahu, Sanakhemundi MLA Nandini Devi, PD of DRDA Siddharth Shankar Swain, CDMO Dr Sadanand Mishra, PD of DUDA Sabysachi Hota, RTO Sanjay Biswal and deputy director of agriculture Manoj Kumar Behera, DSWO Manorama Reddy, DWO Parikhit Dash and senior officials of the district administration attended the press meet.
