New Delhi: ‘Aadi Mahotsav’, a national tribal festival to celebrate, cherish and promote the spirit of tribal craft, culture, cuisine and commerce will go for a colourful start from November 16.
The festival, based on the theme ‘A Celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Craft, Cuisine and Commerce’, is being organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED).
Addressing the media, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram said the Mahotsav will be held at three locations in New Delhi – Dilli Haat, INA from November 16 to 30, at Central Park from November 16 to 19 and Nehru Park from November 21 to 30.
“The festival will feature exhibition-cum-sale of tribal handicrafts, art, paintings, fabric, jewellery and much more through 100 stalls. Over 200 tribal artisans and artists from different states creating a Mini-India will be participating in the festival. More than 600 artisans from 23 states, 80 tribal chefs from more than 20 states and 14 dance troupes comprising more than 200 artists will participate in the Mahotsav,” said Oram.
According to the Ministry, heritage collection of sarees likes Sambalpuri, Bhandara, Tussar from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and West Bengal, bell metals from Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, paintings from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh will be displayed at Mahotsav.
