Bhubaneswar, April 19: The Meteorological Centre here Sunday predicted mercury might soar above 42 degree Celsius in the Capital city in the next 24 hours. The city’s temperature reached 40 degree Celsius Saturday.
The Met centre has issued heat wave warning for the first time this summer in view of high rise in temperature across the state in the days to come as it advised people to take precautions while going out under the scorching sun.
As many as 10 places including Bhubaneswar recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius while five places reached close to the mark in state Sunday. Angul remained the hottest place with 42.7 degree Celsius followed by Talcher 41.5.
“With clear skies, weather will remain sunny over many parts of the state as people may continue to experience the heat in the next 24 hours. The heat wave will remain till April 22 after which there may be rain and thunder squalls in the state,” said Met director Sarat Sahu.
The Met officials also predicted clear skies for the Capital city.
