MeT issues orange warning for 7 districts

Bhubaneswar:  The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Tuesday issued Orange Warning for seven districts and Yellow Warning for another eight districts of the state.

According to the mid-day bulletin released by the centre, the districts with Orange Warning are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rains over the next 24 hours, while the districts with Yellow Warning are likely to experience heavy rains over the same period.

The districts with Orange Warning are – Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Cuttack, Khurdha, Puri, Bhadrak and Ganjam. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over these districts in next 24 hours.

The districts with Yellow Warning are – Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Boudh and Dhenkanal. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over these districts in next 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha during the same period.

Capital city Bhubaneswar will experience generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain and thundershower. Maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

The cyclonic circulation over westcentral and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off South Andhra Pradesh now lies over south Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood and extends up to 3.6 kilometres above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. A trough extending up to 0.9 kilometre above mean sea level runs from the above cyclonic circulation to southwest Madhya Pradesh across Vidarbha, the agency said.

Southwest monsoon has been Active over Odisha leading to moderate rainfall across the districts of coastal Odisha and at many places over the districts of interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, the bulletin added.
