Bhubaneswar, May 5: The Meteorological Centre here has warned of thunder squalls accompanied by hail and gusty surface winds with speed reaching 60kmph along the coastal belt in the next 24 hours.
“Light rain or thundershowers may occur at one or two places in the coastal districts and districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh and Rayagada. Weather may be generally sunny over the remaining parts of the state,” says the Met bulletin.
Mercury above 40 degrees Celsius was registered in Jharsuguda (40.2), Talcher (40.2), Sonepur (40.1) and Bolangir (40) in the past 24 hours.
The Met officials have also recorded light rainfall in Cuttack, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal during the same period.
The weatherman has further predicted partly cloudy skies for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood with chances of rain and thundershowers towards Wednesday afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperature may remain around 38 and 25 degrees Celsius in the city Wednesday.
