Bhubaneswar: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit Odisha May 1, 2026, to launch a major rural road projects worth Rs 1,698 crore in Rayagada. According to reports, the minister will roll out the projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSYIV).
These projects include 827 roads covering about 1,701 km that will provide all-weather roads to 898 villages. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the event, which will be held at IACR Ground in Rayagada.
The two leaders will jointly inaugurate the projects and lay foundation stones. The new roads are expected to improve access to schools, hospitals and markets in rural areas. They are also likely to boost local trade, create jobs and support overall development in the region.
The programme will also be attended by Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik and other officials. Beneficiaries of the scheme will be honoured at the event.
Significantly, under various components of PMGSY, a total of 17,963 roads covering 74,725 km and 707 bridges have so far been sanctioned in the state, while 17,760 roads spanning 71,742 km and 658 bridges have already been completed.
