Krushnaprasad: An alert minor managed to thwart a kidnap bid by miscreants under this block in Puri district Friday. He was identified as Debasish Das (16), a first year student of Kandakhai Arts and Science College.
According to sources, Debasish of Ora village under Siandi gram panchayat of this block had gone to his sister’s place a few days back. The incident occurred while he was waiting for a bus to return home Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, some miscreants in a car stopped near him and asked him the way to Berhampur. Before he could answer anything, they sprayed something on him after which he became unconscious.
The boy then woke up to find himself in a forest road near Khallikote on Rambha-Bhubaneswar road while the miscreants had gone somewhere, leaving him inside the car. Taking advantage, he cunningly broke open the car window and escaped.
Then, he got a lift from a truck and took shelter at a temple Thursday night before returning to his village Friday morning. While no police complaint was lodged in this connection, locals urged the police to arrest the miscreants.
