Rasulpur: A minor girl was gangraped by four persons including her cousin and his accomplices under this block in Jajpur district, police said Monday.
The matter came to fore after police arrested the four accused. The accused were identified as the survivor’s cousin Sashi Mallik (23) alias Nalua and his three friends Narendra Mallik (35) alias Naria, Srikant Mallik (25) alias Jaga and Chandan Mallik (26) alias Chandia. A medical examination was conducted on the survivor and the four accused before producing the latter in court, said Madhumita Mohanty, investigation officer of Rasulpur police station said.
The incident occurred December 31 night. The survivor was staying with her maternal grandmother when the accused taking opportune of the old woman’s absence picked up the girl and took turns on her on the middle of a farmland the same night and later dumped her. The survivor narrated the whole incident to Sashi’s wife the next day. On being informed, the survivor’s parents reached the village and lodged a complaint in the police station Sunday night. The survivor was sent to a shelter home in Jajpur Town.
