Rourkela: A 17-year-old girl, working at a garment showroom at Lahunipara under Bonia police limits in Sundargarh district, was allegedly gang-raped by four youths in a farmland October 27 on the pretext of dropping her home, police said.
The incident came to the fore after the victim lodged a complaint with the local police. Acting on the complaint of the victim, police swung into action and arrested all the accused October 30.
The police also seized a motorbike from their possession, it was learnt.
As per the complaint, the incident occurred while the minor girl was returning home from work October 27 evening.
A youth, whom she was acquainted with, offered her a lift to her house. Unaware of his evil intention, the girl went along with him; unknown to her, three of the youth’s friends were waiting a little distance away.
The four youths then took the girl to a farmland where they took turns on her. They also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone before fleeing the spot. The four accused are residents of Lahunipara slum.
On returning home, the girl narrated her ordeal to her family, who lodged a complaint at Lahunipara police station. On the basis of the complaint, police arrested the four accused and are interrogating them.
“We have sent the four accused and the survivor for medical examination. Necessary action will be taken after the medical report arrives,” police said.
